As we start this new school year, I want you to know I’m here to support your child’s social and emotional learning. School is about more than just academics- it’s about feeling safe, valued, and confident. I’m excited to help your child build skills like managing feelings, making friends, and solving problems.

How I Can Help Your Child Thrive:

Check-ins to talk about feelings and challenges

Support building friendships and social skills

Tools for coping with stress, anxiety, and big emotions

Connecting families to community resources and supports.

Your child’s emotional well-being is a team effort. If you ever feel your child could use extra support or if your family needs resources, please reach out. I’m here to listen, support, and connect you to helpful tools and services.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

Social and Emotional Learning refers to five interrelated competency areas as identified by the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL).

These five areas are:
Self Awareness: to identify and label one’s own feelings

Social Awareness: to empathize with others, show respect, and appreciate diversity

Self-Management: to complete difficult tasks, self-motivate, ask for help when needed, and focus attention

Relationships: to participate in a group, communicate effectively, work toward common goals, and peacefully resolve conflicts

Responsible Decision Making: to analyze situations, make responsible decisions, and problem solve in challenging circumstances
